A Toastery Beginning to Vacation

So I have to back track. After working in the research field for many years my husband just wasn't happy with his career. So after a lot of prayer we decided to make a huge career change and go into pharmacy. At the age of 33 my husband is starting school again. The third degree is the charm right? This time we have three kids. Yikes. But it will be so worth it in the end. Gary got into school in Abilene so he quit his job and we packed our bags. We sold our house and headed off to Abilene. We figured we would go to Abilene, put our stuff in storage, find a place to live, and then go down to California for a long vacation before coming back to Abilene.

This is how the trip started. While in Abilene we did not find a place to live but our car did break down and we were forced to bring our cat (in the carrier) into Mc Donalds with us while we waited for our car to be fixed. The employee who gave us permission to bring our cat in the restaurant sat down next to me while I ate and proceeded to describe in great detail the allergic reactions she has to a cat that lives in her group home. It was illuminating.

Some other highlights from our trip:
In El Paso we almost drove into Mexico (we were technically in Mexico but were able to make a u-turn just before the border crossing).
In Arizona Brynn exploded all over the back seat.
By the time we got to my moms house in La Quinta we all had lice and Lorin had the stomach flu, which proceeded to make it's way to everyone but Gary.

On a lighter note, we visited the San Andreas fault line. No earthquakes while we were there. The fault line caused an oasis in the middle of the desert. It was very beautiful.

Also, Lorin got baptized. It was a wonderful, glorious, beautiful day. I am so proud of her. So awesome it deserves its own post.

Also, we went to Disneyland which was also so awesome it deserved its own post.

And, to be honest, we have loved being able to spend time with loved ones we haven't seen in a while. Right now we are in San Diego, our favorite city. Spending some time with Gary's family. It should be a great week.
